Comparing online video conferencing systems is a recurring theme of mine, partly because there is so much happening in the market. On Monday I was part of an online meeting in Marratech presenting my experiences of working with Wimba to the Distans network of Scandinavian educators. On the virtual podium with me were speakers about Elluminate and Dimdim.
The market has changed in the last two years from being dominated by the expensive professionals such as Wimba and Elluminate to being flooded with a range of cheap and free alternatives as well as some old favorites such as Skype which keep upgrading.
One thing I noticed straight away is that Marratech has become much easier to use. I have downloaded this at least twice in the last five years or so
