Why and how are we using case studies in the ProfESus project? You can see the recording of my Global Ed Con session on this topic here.

Solve it or discover it!
I will share an approach using case studies to embed learning about the SDGs. The approach has been developed by the Prof E Sus project in its mission to help teachers of guest-oriented vocational skills better embed sustainable practices once they start their desired work in rural tourism, small scale care homes and similar.
The project is focused on SDG 12, Responsible Consumption and Production and I will share a couple of the case studies and how we propose to use them in professional development for vocational teachers in our target group.
We will be using the case study approach both as a training tool and as a recommended approach in vocational training. We have discovered that the case study approach is extremely flexible and ensures authenticity and relevance.
Our case study motto of ‘Solve it or discover it’ shows that case studies can be both problem solving and problem finding tools, the latter encouraging engagement and collaboration with the community to uncover and suggest solutions to their SDG 12 challenges. Our approach covers both real and realistic case studies.
